Hi! I'm a first-year Ph.D. student in the Computational concentration. Before joining Georgetown, I earned both my M.A. and B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Tokyo.
My research lies at the intersection of psycholinguistics and computational linguistics. I am interested in how sentences are comprehended incrementally, that is, how hierarchical, multi-layered linguistic information is rapidly processed under resource constraints. I am also curious about why language structures are the way they are. Specifically, I investigate the extent to which processing efficiency can, and cannot, account for cross-linguistic syntactic patterns.
