Ph.D. candidate Minnie Quartey featured in WUSA9 article
Ph.D. student Minnie Quartey was recently quoted in a WUSA9 article on ‘The power of spoken word during social movements’. The article also features Minnie’s reading of a piece she authored titled ‘Analogy’. Minnie is currently finishing her dissertation on DC African American language and identity. During her tenure at Georgetown, she has been Project Coordinator of the Language and Communication in Washington, DC research project and has played a key role in conducting sociolinguistic interviews for this project and for the Corpus of Regional African American Language project housed at the University of Oregon. Minnie also developed and taught LING 285: African American English at Georgetown.
