What’s Involved

In February of each year, the Director of Undergraduate Studies will invite all third-year LING majors with cumulative GPAs of 3.4 in their first five semesters (both overall and in LING courses) to submit a preliminary proposal by the end of the spring semester.

To be invited to write an Honors Thesis, a student must have a GPA of 3.5 by the end of the third year. Note that a cumulative GPA of 3.4 is the lowest possible GPA that could rise to a 3.5 by the end of the third year (with a 4.0 in the spring semester of third year).

Students who are invited to write an Honors Thesis must sign up for the 2-semester (3 credit) Senior Honors Thesis Seminar for their senior year.
