What our academic titles mean:

The Linguistics department includes faculty and teaching staff in a range of appointment types. All faculty advise and teach students, and students are encouraged to take advantage of everyone’s expertise. Ph.D. students: When searching for a primary faculty mentor for your dissertation, be aware that only tenure-line faculty can direct dissertations. All other faculty are eligible to serve on dissertation committees as well as direct Master’s Theses.
