Master's Research Paper and Summative Portfolio
You must first select a faculty member to serve as your Reader. The Reader does not necessarily need to be your advisor, but should be a faculty member whose area of expertise are similar to the topic in which you will be focusing on for your Master's Research Paper (MRP) or Portfolio. Over the semester in which you will be submitting your MRP or Portfolio, you should meet regularly with your Reader so that it is not the first draft that you submit at the time of the deadline. The MRP or Portfolio is due to the Department (ICC 451), at which time it's distribured to the Reader that you indicate on the coversheet. After your Reader approves your MRP or Portfolio, it is then given to the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) for final department approval.
When you submit your MRP or Portfolio, you must complete one of the following coversheets:
Master's Research Paper Coversheet
Master's Summative Portfolio Coversheet
Please be sure to review the Graduate Student Handbook (for the year in which you entered) for additional details and the Calendar of Important Dates for submission deadlines.
Please note that our MS and MAT programs do not require a thesis; therefore, your MRP or Portfolio is not deposited in the Graduate School. When completing the Graduate School's Application for Graduate Degree form, you do not check off the 'Thesis/Dissertation Required' box.
